Anyone who can get their hands on a next-gen device in a world in short supply can play many great games on it. But Sony says that the shortage will be over by early 2023, and it will be much easier to get a hold of the system afterward.

From first-party games like Ratchet & Clank: Rift, Aside from great third-party games like Elden Ring and Stray, you can find a PS5 game that fits your tastes. If you have Sony's next-generation system and are searching for the best PS5 games that take advantage of the tech, we can help.

Top PlayStation 5 (PS5) Games (2023)

God of War: Ragnarok

In the case of Ragnarok, by doing the same things repeatedly. After all, this isn't the version that starts from scratch. That was already done in the last game, so this one is a welcoming return to a land of Norse violence and daddy problems, which we all love so much.

Some changes to fighting let you charge up elemental moves, a new weapon, and more depth to the skill trees and item upgrades. But truly, this is about telling the following chapter of Kratos and Atreus' story, and that part of the game is done very well, with lots of twists, turns, and poignant gut hits.

Horizon Forbidden West

Horizon Forbidden West is the sequel to the hit PS4 game Zero Dawn. The first word that must have been written on the paper when the Guerilla Games team got together to plan it must have been "more." More guns, tasks, mechanical monsters, skills that can be unlocked, crafts, and even more storage systems.

This game adds a lot, and sometimes too much. Once again, as the red-headed huntress Aloy, in a post-post-apocalyptic future, you have to go to the West to get some MacGuffins to fix the terraforming AI that ought to be running the world but is instead slacking off.

The West is mostly the same as the East, but the PS5's power makes it look amazing. The way you play the game is the same, but you can climb better and swim better now that Breath of the Wild has ended.

The show's stars are still the big and small robots, both the ones that have been on before and the new ones that stand out. When Horizon 3 comes out, it could use a little less clutter. Forbidden West is a mess because of all the powers, upgrades, and stores, but this is a good choice if you're looking for an open world to get lost in.

Elden Ring

Since the Dark Souls series and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, games made with this program have a reputation for being very hard. The game is just as beautiful as the rest of the developer's games and even harder to learn, but it takes place in a harsh open world.

You don't have to pursue a set plan; instead, you can go anywhere. This differs from most open-world games, which have goal signs and other ways to show you what to do. You're pretty much thrown into the deep end and told to live. The best thing about Elden Ring is that it lets you play in different ways.

You can sneak up on easy enemies, blast them from afar with spells, or just rain hell down with your crossbows. When you add a great story, one of the best-designed open worlds we've seen, and some of the hardest bosses we've ever seen, you get a very hard game that will satisfy those who like to be punished.

Deathloop

Deathloop, Arkane's newest game, is among the best PS5 games. It has fun gunplay, tactics, a beautiful open world that evolves throughout the day, and swearing. Colt, the protagonist, wakes up on Black Reef Island & finds himself trapped in a temporal loop.

If you had to start your day over every day, you'd probably curse a lot, too. Colt soon discovers that he must eliminate eight Visionaries on the same day before midnight to break the time loop. It might sound simple, but those annoying Visionaries aren't content to remain in one place where things get interesting all day.

You have to explore different parts of Black Reef Island at different times of the day to learn new things, get new tools, and improve your ability to affect the Visionaries. In this exciting FPS, you're going to have to put your detective skills to the test.

The Last of Us Part I

The classic PS3 game was updated for the PS4 and is now being redone for the PS5, and this is mostly just another update to the graphics. Still, the game is a classic for a reason, and since its remake is one of the best original games for the PS5, getting to play the first one again with the same level of polish feels like a bit of a treat.

Once again, you'll play as the grumpy Joel, who has to get Ellie, a teenager, across post-apocalyptic North America while dealing with other survivors, monsters, and the desert itself.

Stray

Stray is the game that has taken 2022 by storm. As the name says, you play as a lost cat with no name in a world without people. After tripping and falling into the drains of a walled-garden city occupied by robots, the cat-agonist has to find ways to get out and discover what happened in the run-down city.

The kitty figure is as cute as you'd expect, meowing whenever you want, scratching surfaces to stretch, and even pushing glasses, plates, and other things off surfaces as you explore. Even though there isn't much-spoken conversation outside of the key scenes, the game does an excellent job of showing the stories and feelings of the AI-controlled people in the city.

You'll learn more about the world you're in when you find memories you don't have to remember. As a cat, it's fun to explore the open-world environment, which has places and roads that humans usually can't get to.

It would help if you didn't rush through a game like this to get all the trophies. There are lots of locations where you can mess things up. Even more so, since you can't go back to an area on the same run once you've left it, you'll want to be sure you've seen everything before you progress.
